Hill has a diverse set of Academic Activities available to students.
The club meets Tuesdays after school for an hour (3:00-4:00pm), beginning January 14, 2014.
If your child is interested (and of course, if you would like to help run it), please send Cassie Perlmutter the attached form. (Hard copies are on the main office counter.)
Fellows provide small group mathematics tutoring to students who are below grade level in groups of three-to-one or four-to-one for a minimum of 45 minutes each day, emphasizing depth rather than breadth in math studies.
The goals of the Math Fellows Program are to:
- Develop problem-solving skills and close gaps in their mathematical knowledge that are holding them back.
- Re-teach students key concepts based on lessons in their math class, which helps students better understand and retain challenging material.
- Develop strong relationships with students that help increase student engagement and participation in school.
The tutoring provided by Fellows occurs during the school day and is in addition to a student’s daily math class. Students are served at 46 elementary and secondary schools across DPS in 4th, 6th 8th, and some 9th grade classes. Fellows are full-time employees of Denver Public Schools and are an integral part of the school team at each school site.
