The National Spotlight

Hill Campus of Arts and Sciences very own ELD teacher Adam Creapo not only represented the Skyhawks last week but all of DPS at the WIDA National Conference in Philadelphia.

WIDA is a state consortium representing 39 states in national standards for ELL’s and is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin Madison. WIDA also writes the yearly ACCESS test and W-APT screener test that all ELL’s must take. During his time in Philly, Adam had the opportunity to sit in on sessions about the design of the ACCESS assessment, how to better engage our ELL families, and a host of other learning opportunities. He also presented his work about the Language Pathways work that he has been doing with WIDA since January. There were teachers from around the country in his session and he received feedback that validates what we are doing at Hill in the ELD department is exactly where we should be heading.
