8th Grade Career Fair
Every year DPS hosts a career fair for 8th grade students as a part of their preparation for high school and life after.
This year the career fair is Thursday, Nov. 13th during the school day from 12:30-1:30pm at Empower Field at Mile High (Denver Broncos Stadium). 8th graders will leave school with provided buses at 11:45am and will return to school at 1:45pm. Students will still have lunch at school prior to leaving for the career fair.
We encourage students to dress to impress! For most this will be their first opportunity to interact with businesses, different industries, and colleges. In addition, we are asking that students leave their backpacks, handbags, or anything similar at home for this day due to the safety and security process at the stadium for time sake. Each personal item would have to be searched and scanned resulting in time taken away from them to experience the career fair.
Attached below are links to a parent letter with some additional information. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Director Turner. Take care!
Hill Harvest Baskets
Harvest Baskets are an annual tradition at Hill where we support our community during the holidays. We are looking to feed 75 families this year. In addition, we are working hard to raise funds and stock a food pantry at Hill that can help beyond the holiday season. There are 2 ways to help! You can donate food or volunteer time and support.
Helping with Food Donations through our Grade Level Competition:
Nonperishable food items and grocery gift cards can be donated from November 3rd - November 18th by grade level. The winning grade level will win a grade level celebration!!
Points will be awarded as 1 food item = 1 point, and grocery store gift cards will be awarded for the face value of the gift card for instance $25 gift card= 25 points.
Nonperishable goods wish list: canned corn, canned green beans, pasta, rice, macaroni and cheese, cornbread mix, ramen, canned black beans/pinto beans, soup, canned tuna/chicken
If you are interested in receiving a Harvest Basket this year, please email Nurse Merri at merri_hoffman@dpsk12.net
Helping with Harvest Baskets &/or Food Pantry
We need volunteers to ensure our holiday tradition and food pantry can go smoothly for families. Our Harvest basket event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 22nd. After this date, we will be keeping our pantry open to distribute food to families building up to winter break. If you are willing to help us with this event or willing to be an ongoing volunteer, please use the following form to sign-up.
