DPS 2017 Citywide Orchestra Festival

Seven Hill students participated in the 2017 Citywide Orchestras. During the Festival, held at John F. Kennedy High School on Saturday, January 21st, the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Honors Orchestras performed. All three orchestras, comprising over 170 DPS musicians, joined for the Grand Finale, the premier of Ernest Bell’s new work, Halleluja Nachtmusik in Blue, No. 5.
The Guest Conductors were Andrea Meyers, Loni Obluda, and Brett Wallace. Each of the conductors described the growth they observed in the students over the course of one sectional rehearsal in December followed by 12 hours of rehearsals the Friday and Saturday morning before the concert.
Hill musicians who participated were:
Anna Kathryn Baer
Sierra Gordon
Fatima Magaña
Fiona Martin
Kaitlann Osburn
Juju Read
Avry Williams

Students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to perform with their most competitive and diverse peers from across the district.
The 2017 Citywide Band Festival will be held next month, and several Hill musicians are expected to participate.
