Hill’s electives teachers and their students have been working diligently to prepare for the Skyhawk Winter Showcase for all of our families. Join us for:
All elective classes are represented, so there will be something created by your student for you to enjoy! See you at the Winter Skyhawk Showcase on Wed. 12/6 4:30-7:30pm!
From 8am – 12pm on Dec 2, 8th graders are invited to school to get help meeting the attendance and academic requirements for Continuation. In order to participate in Continuation Week in May 2024, 8th graders need at least 92% attendance and no 1’s in classes for quarters 2-4. If your student is not meeting the attendance requirement, or currently has 1’s in quarter 2, they should attend this event to get support from school leaders! Students should bring their Chromebook or a regular book as they will be competing missing assignments, working on ICAP requirements, or reading quietly. Every hour of time spent at Saturday School will count as 1% towards continuation attendance requirements
‘Tis the season! Please help us provide gifts for our families. We are fortunate to partner with a local resource for toys, however, we are in desperate need of tween/teen toys. Think PlayStation/Starbucks Gift cards, Electronics (headphones/portable speakers), and oversize hoodies for our Hill Friends and their siblings. We plan on supporting around 60 families this year.

This month’s MLE DAC meeting will be a Resource Fair. The Career & College Success Department will be there to support attendees with information on graduation requirements, scholarships, apprenticeship programs, summer school, internships, FAFSA support, concurrent enrollment, AP, etc.
In addition, we will have information on the Seal of Biliteracy (moved from last month’s meeting), Gifted and Talented, Mental Health, middle school tutoring, plus many more.

All DPS schools provide a class for 5th, 6th and 9th graders to educate them on the symptoms of depression, the signs of suicidal behavior and where to turn for support either for a friend or for themselves. At Hill we will be implementing the two-session class next week on December 5th and 6th through the social studies curriculum. Escuela sabatina para estudiantes de 8º grado – 2 de diciembre
De 8 am a 12 pm el 2 de diciembre, los estudiantes de octavo grado están invitados a la escuela para recibir ayuda para cumplir con los requisitos académicos y de asistencia para la continuación. Para participar en la Semana de Continuación en mayo de 2024, los estudiantes de 8.º grado necesitan al menos un 92 % de asistencia y ningún 1 en clases durante los trimestres 2 a 4. Si su estudiante no cumple con el requisito de asistencia, o actualmente tiene 1 en el segundo trimestre, ¡debe asistir a este evento para obtener apoyo de los líderes escolares!

Tenemos la suerte de asociarnos con un recurso local para juguetes; sin embargo, necesitamos desesperadamente juguetes para preadolescentes y adolescentes. Planeamos apoyar a unas 60 familias este año.

La reunión de MLE DAC de este mes será una feria de recursos. El Departamento de Éxito Profesional y Universitario estará allí para apoyar a los asistentes con información sobre requisitos de graduación, becas, programas de aprendizaje, escuela de verano, pasantías, apoyo FAFSA, inscripción simultánea, AP, etc.
Además, tendremos información sobre el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe (movido de la reunión del mes pasado), Dotados y Talentosos, Salud Mental, tutoría en la escuela secundaria y mucho más.

Todas las escuelas de DPS ofrecen una clase para estudiantes de 5.º, 6.º y 9.º grado para educarlos sobre los síntomas de la depresión, los signos de conducta suicida y adónde acudir en busca de apoyo, ya sea para un amigo o para ellos mismos. En Hill implementaremos la clase de dos sesiones la próxima semana, el 5 y 6 de diciembre, a través del plan de estudios de estudios sociales.
