Saturday School:

Tomorrow, November 16, from 8 am -12 pm we will be holding Saturday school for 8th grade students to receive continuation support. If your student needs support with attendance, ICAP, or academics, we would love to have them there! please sign up–students are welcome to come the whole time or part of the time. 

  • What: Skyhawk Saturday School
  • When: November 16, 2024 from 8 am -12 pm
  • Every hour = 3% attendance credit (kids could earn a total of 12% for coming for 4 hours)
  • Attendance Make-up
    • Students can attend to choose from a menu of attendance credit options
    • Students on READ-Act plans, with IEPs, or in ELD A/B can complete i-ready lessons. If they score 80% or higher they will earn 1% attendance credit. 
  • Tutoring
    • Students can attend to work on missing assignments and receive classroom support to ensure they do not receive Q2 1s
  • Community Service Projects = No community service will be offered at this Saturday school!

Food Drive Competition! 

Harvest Baskets is an annual tradition at Hill where we support our community during the holidays. 

This year we are planning to support 75 families with our Harvest Basket distribution, and would love your help! Here’s how: 

  • Nonperishable food items and grocery gift cards can be donated from November 4th – November 19th by grade level. The winning grade level will win a grade level celebration!! 
  • Points will be awarded as 1 food item = 1 point, and grocery store gift cards will be awarded for the face value of the gift card for instance $25 gift card= 25 points.
  • Nonperishable goods wish list: canned corn, canned green beans, pasta, rice, macaroni and cheese, cornbread mix, ramen, canned black beans/pinto beans, soup, canned tuna/chicken
  • If you are interested in receiving a Harvest Basket this year, please email Nurse Merri at merri_hoffman@dpsk12.org

8th Grade Career Fair:

This week on Thursday, Nov 21, 8th grade students and teachers will travel to Empower Field to participate in the 8th Grade Career Fair! The event will take place during the school day with our departure being at 11:50am and returning back to school at 1:45pm. 

At this event students will have the opportunity to interact with local businesses, worldwide companies, future high schools, and many more. Students will have the chance to practice some interviewing skills, look at careers based on their interest profiler survey, and start thinking about life after high school!

6th Grade Science Fair Opportunity

All 6th graders received an invitation from Ms. Bessie and Ms. Cozzarin to participate in a science fair to be displayed at the Winter Showcase. Please SEE THE FULL PACKET OF INFORMATION here and let us know if your student wants to participate!

Hill Volleyball:

Boys and Girls Volleyball registration is now open and available. Please use this link to register. As a reminder, in order to participate your student must have an updated sports physical.

Registration will close Wednesday, December 18. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Director Turner or Director Lewis.

Skyhawks Band & Orchestra Concerts:

Our amazing Skyhawk band and orchestra, led my the even more amazing Ms. Warpinski will be performing in collaboration with East High School in December. All community members are invited!

2nd Annual Winter Showcase! 

Save the Date! Our 2nd Annual Winter Showcase is on December 12, 4:30pm-7:30pm. All students will have work featured from their elective classes. It is a fun, exciting evening for everyone and dinner is provided in the cafeteria. If you would like Interpretation for this event please complete this form.
