Come view the amazing “Day of the Dead” works by the 6th Grade Advanced Visual Arts class! Silent auction of the pieces runs through Monday October 30th: come bid on your favorite piece! We are very excited to have this public show and auction; all proceeds support the Hill Visual Arts Department supplies and materials.

You’ll enjoy the many moods of ensemble music, from hymns to jazz to traditional in an international (and other worldly!) exploration of expression!
2017 Citywide Honor Choir Festival

Congratulations to this year’s Hill students accepted into the DPS Citywide Honor Choir: Joneel Lewis, Thomas Sheldon, Jacob Thomas, Alana Davi, Charlotte McHughs and Katie Truitt. They were part of an outstanding performance. Kudos to our singers!

The Hill All-School Musical: Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

The Hill Arts Department and talented students throughout the school are pulling out all the stops for the biggest show of the year! Follow Cinderella through the trials and tribulations of coming into her own, including various fairies and nefarious characters who smooth the way or create mischief. Complete with student lead stagecraft (sets, lighting, sound and management), the Hill Advanced Orchestra and one very tall prince.
Metro State University Solo & Ensemble Festival
Saturday, March 17th 9: 00 AM to 3:00 PM
This event gives students the opportunity to give a juried performance, receive constructive feedback and participate in intensive workshops. Congratulations to these Hill students for their inclusion in the Festival with their performance of the “Passacaglia Quintet”: Tiarah Robinson, Violin; Addie Funnell, Violin; Ashley San Miguel, Violin; Jazzlyn Corfield, Viola; Anna Kathryn Baer, Cello.

DPS 2017 Citywide Orchestra Festival

 

Seven Hill students participated in the 2017 Citywide Orchestras. During the Festival, held at John F. Kennedy High School on Saturday, January 21st, the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Honors Orchestras performed. All three orchestras, comprising over 170 DPS musicians, joined for the Grand Finale, the premier of Ernest Bell’s new work, Halleluja Nachtmusik in Blue, No. 5.
The Guest Conductors were Andrea Meyers, Loni Obluda, and Brett Wallace. Each of the conductors described the growth they observed in the students over the course of one sectional rehearsal in December followed by 12 hours of rehearsals the Friday and Saturday morning before the concert.

Students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to perform with their most competitive and diverse peers from across the district.
The 2017 Citywide Band Festival will be held next month, and several Hill musicians are expected to participate.
